Why and when HFSC Membership?

To put it simply, HFSC membership is great for skaters working with a private coach and are looking for additional ice time for training, performing, competiting and testing! We love to see our membership grow but want new skaters to join when the time is right. Learn to Skate lessons and the attached Learn to Skate membership is a fantastic option for first, second, even third or fourth year skaters! The coaching, membership fees and lesson time are all packaged together and still offer the option to pay for extra practice time during any rink hosted OPEN FIGURE skating sessions. Members graduating from Learn to Skate will move into an a` la cart option specific to their budget, schedule and skating goals. When skaters and families are looking to take that next step it’s time to talk to a board member and a coach and see if club membership is the best next step. We encourage families to be mindful of the membership year. In some cases, families can join as introductory members early in the calendar year and then have to renew in the late summer. Club membership opens many doors for skaters but is not always a necessary next step for skaters. We have two tiers of skating options so we can offer more to our community! Please note that open skating sessions can change from season to season and occasionally month to month. We will communicate all times as soon as they are confirmed with rink management closer to the end of summer. Coaches are private contractors and set their own hours, rates and workload. Coaches must be compliant with all US Figure Skating Coaching Compliances for current skating season to offer lessons on any figure skating sanction ice sessions. Any public ice sessions are not part of USFS or HFSC is any way, shape or form.

The Helena Figure Skating Club membership year runs from July 1-June 30 each year.

Skaters must be current members, in good standing, to skate on club and open figure/freestyle skating sessions at all times.
