Sunday, Jan. 18th- Quick skills assessment during LTS*

Sunday, Jan. 25th- Set elements program with instructor 11:40-12pm

Sunday, Feb. 1st- Practice elements program with instructor 11:40-12pm

Sunday, Feb.8th - Practice elements program with instructor 11:40-12pm

Saturday, Feb. 14th- Competition Day! Events held between 11am-3pm (approx.)

*Very quick (2-3 mins) skills assessment with skating director Crystal Ann during the 2nd half of LTS to establish competition skill level.

Important Competition Vocabulary!

Announcement: Competition packet with rules, guidelines and registration information.

Elements/ compulsory program: A half ice solo program containing level specific required elements performed in order without music. Also called basic skills elements. This is what is included with competition class.

Practice time: Individual time spent skating. Includes warming up, working on full elements program and single skill development (as directed by instructor from previous lessons)

Lesson time: Time with instructor learning and strengthening skills and program. Feedback given by instructor and attempts to improve made by skater.

Warm- Up Ice: A 3-5 minute “practice” before events included in competition fee. Competitors will be allowed to warm up for each event (so two different events, two different warm ups). Skaters can get advice from coaches during this time. Warm ups can be combined with higher or lower levels. Not all the skaters on the ice are competing against each other. Combined warm ups can also make the competition schedule change. Never hesitate to ask a coach or competition member about warm up times.

OPEN TO ALL LTS Participants!

• Levels Snow Plow (green)- Basic 6 (yellow star) *includes hockey and figure skating skills!

• Spaces are VERY limited based on instructor availability. First come, first serve!

• Must be in HFSC Learn to Skate sessions 4 and 5

• Participation in club ice for non-HFSC members is specific to Competition Taster Event.

• Skater may take the ice from 11:30am-12pm as part of Competition Taster event.

• No additional signs ups or fees required!
